The Nokia Eseries: Quad Band with Integrated WLAN

Cell phone manufacturer Nokia of Finland introduced three new mobile devices for business at the 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona, Spain. The handsets, part of the Nokia Eseries phones for business, are the Nokia E65, already available in selected markets (Europe), the E61i, expected to become available in the second quarter of 2007, and the all in one mobile office Nokia E90 communicator, becoming available globally in the 3rd quarter.

All three devices are designed to operate across continents using the quadband GSM and 3G frequencies, and have the capability of making cheaper VoIP calls through integrated WLAN access. The E65 can also be integrated with corporate PBX telephony systems from a variety of vendors.

Designed for extensive mobile email usage, the Nokia E61i is preceeded by the popular E61 model. It features a large, back lit QWERTY keyboard for the frequent texter, and has Navi and One Touch keys for conference calls, muting, and contactlists. It is also capable of advanced attachment handling and document editing on board.

Many corporate mobile email solutions are supported on the E65i, including Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email 8.0, Mail for Exchange, and BlackBerry Connect, as well as the most popular consumer email applications.

The setup wizards make it easy to configure your email, and there is also a WLAN wizard that will find available wireless networks and connect to your account. The Nokia E61i also has integrated VoIP readiness, which requires a seperate service agreement, allowing for expanded coverage and bringing the concept of Fixed Mobile Convergence one step closer to reality.
